BlueScope Distribution offers a wide range of pipe for both the fluid and structural steel market. From locally produced AS1074 pipe to globally sourced ERW API5LB / AS/NZS 1163 C350L0, in a wide variety of sizing to meet customer needs.
Our commercial pipe is manufactured to a range of grades (Light & Extra Light, Medium, Heavy and Extra Heavy), black and galvanised, and to suit a range of joining methods and fittings.
ERW is a process where electrical contacts or induction coils are used to manufacture the pipe. Steel strip is uncoiled, leveled and crop-sheared. It is then trimmed on both sides at the same time to correct width and immediately fed into the forming and welding line. This strip is fed into a series of cold forming rolls, where it is formed into a tubular shape, and then joined by high frequency electric resistance welding. The resulting product has a uniform wall thickness, and the welded area is heat-treated by post annealing to ensure adequate ductility at the weld. Once the pipe has been cut to size,
Our ERW pipe is sourced from mills that have been audited by our experienced staff & have accreditation to international organizations such as API (American Petroleum Institute). Our stock pipe is also certified to Grade 350L0 thus enabling the pipe to be used for structural applications. Full certification is available.
Pipe used to carry a fluid (water, steam, hydraulic oil, natural gas, compressed air, brine, aviation fuel, LPG, petroleum, gas, liquid, slurry) and must retain pressure without leaking. Typical uses are:
Used in a diverse range of fluid handling and structural applications, such as petroleum and chemical handling, our seamless pipe range is sourced from mills with an international reputation as quality manufacturers, meeting our supplier accreditation requirements. Seamless pipe to ASTM A106B is available. The manufacturers are accredited by ASTM (American Society for Testing & Materials). Full certification is available.
RHS and CHS is not really a pipe, but it can fall within pipeline products. It is used for structural applications, such as:
Weld quality is not as important as the loads are mainly longitudinal and internal pressure does not need to be contained.
